JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Wood is looking to hire a Quality Control Lead to join our team here in Baku.
  • Lead and manage all quality control activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Supervise and mentor fabrication contractor' QC personnel to achieve impeccable project quality delivery.
  • Conduct inspections of welding, painting applications and witnessing of pressure testing ensuring adherence to approved procedures and specifications.
  • Oversee mechanical completion activities, ensuring all systems are tested and ready for commissioning.
  • Develop and manage punch lists to track outstanding issues and ensure timely resolution before project completion.
  • Address non-conformities promptly, coordinating with relevant teams to implement effective corrective actions and ensure timely closure.
  • Witness and verify the qualifications of welding procedures and welder qualifications, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Oversee the application of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods, ensuring all inspections are performed accurately and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, fabrication dossiers, and quality control activities.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and present regular quality reports to project management, highlighting trends, issues, and improvement opportunities
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis for any identified non-conformances or quality issues, developing effective corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Facilitate team discussions to analyze issues and implement lessons learned throughout the project.
  • Utilize auditing skills to assess compliance with site quality standards and procedures, ensuring that all processes meet project requirements.
  • Review and comment on welding procedure qualification records and welder qualifications, ensuring that all personnel are adequately certified.
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and fabrication teams to promote a shared understanding of quality objectives.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to address quality-related concerns and ensure satisfaction.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Internal: Reports to the Project Quality Manager; leads quality Inspectors and Fabricators' Quality Controllers, and collaborates closely with Quality Assurance Lead and Advisors. Engages actively with other functions such as Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Project Management.
  • External: Maintains regular engagement with customers and suppliers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to present business cases and facts to influence project leaders and peers.
  • Applies knowledge and solutions to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and internal Wood standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing quality standards and practices across the project
  • Degree or diploma (or local equivalent) in Engineering, Quality Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Lead Auditor qualification from a recognized industry body (desired).
  • Formal training in recognized root cause analysis techniques. (desired)
  • Senior Welding Inspector CSWIP 3.2.2 or CSWIP 3.2.1+ Radiographic Film Interpreter CSWIP Level II
  • Painting Inspector NACE Level 2 or equivalent Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in Quality Control, including leading Site Quality Control activities, Supplier Quality Management, Quality Planning, Auditing, and Third-Party Inspection (TPI) Management.
  • Comprehensive understanding in industry standards such as ISO 9001, ASME IX, ASME B31.3, etc..
  • Strong NDE Methodology Awareness (MT, PT, RT, UT) • Proficient in the analysis of processes and data
  • Extensive knowledge of welding procedure qualification, pressure testing, hydro testing, leak testing, and mechanical completion
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis methodologies and auditing skills.
  • Proven experience in quality control within a fabrication environment, with a focus on dealing with non-conformities.
  • Experience in leading and coordinating quality control efforts with fabrication contractor QC personnel.
  • Previous experience in similar roles on large-scale fabrication projects involving heavy-wall Super Duplex and Inconel materials welding.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
