ProductionPosition Summary & Duties: The Mechanical/Piping Designer position is an onsite position working for a client in the Shreveport, LA area.
The Mechanical/Piping Designer candidate performs and reviews design activities in completing complex and unique engineering design projects from general drawings and instructions. Position requires extensive knowledge of engineering design principles and practices. Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs. Works with minimal supervision from a Lead Engineer.
Mechanical/Piping Designer Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interprets and analyzes general design provided by engineers.
• Prepares detailed design for engineer's approval.
• Acting under minimal supervision, prepares produces construction drawing packages by providing detailed designs using company standards and drafting techniques.
• Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs.
• Communicates and works closely with all disciplines.
• Develops layouts from job scope and vendor information.
• Develops estimates for new work using scope of work and drawings.
Qualifications:
Mechanical/Piping Designer Qualifications: • Associate's Degree or technology training in Drafting and design from an accredited school.
• 10+ years of refinery design experience required
• 5+ years' experience utilizing AutoCAD; ability to utilize CADWorx and AutoCAD Plant 3D Software.
• Mechanical Designer must possess the ability to climb ladders, maneuver through pipe racks, and work at heights wearing a harness.
• Previous experience doing field verifications and P&ID walk-downs required.
• Candidates within daily commuting distance of Shreveport, LA are preferred. Per diem will be considered for highly qualified candidates who currently reside outside of daily commuting distance.
