What you'll do

You will join a motivated team who are committed to making a real difference to the experience our customers have with us. This is not just a task driven role - you will be empowered to take ownership of problems, investigate them fully, initiate solutions and provide support to our customers.

You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and choke clearing on waste water pumping stations and a variety of other tasks. The focus of the role will be to ensure compliance is maintained on our assets; the resolution of customer issues and the recovery of any reputational impact our operations have on customers. Preference will be given to persons with previous experience of work of a similar nature, Driving Licence would be essential.

You will contribute to the maintenance of wastewater pumping stations and other assets, including Storm water return pumping stations and mechanical screening equipment in a wet well and dry well environment.

Your role will involve responding to reactive work and analysing pumping stations and nearby networks to ensure compliance standards are met clearing blocked pumps and carrying out routine maintenance and fault finding on the network infrastructure.

Additionally, you'll complete all necessary reporting systems to measure performance and productivity. You'll follow all Scottish Water safe systems of work, adhere to Chapter 8 of NSRWA, and uphold all relevant health and safety policies and practices. You'll also be responsible for conducting safety checks on vehicles , lifting equipment you will use as part of your daily role , full training will be given to the successful applicant.

What you'll bring

You'll spend a fair amount of time working alone, so you'll need to be self-motivated, but still eager to contribute to your team's goals. Basic IT skills are a must, as you'll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day. You'll need report writing skills too - nothing fancy, but enough to get your point across clearly, quickly, and accurately.

Ideally, you'll have an HGV class 2 licence. If you don't, it's not the end of the world, as we are able to help you get trained up for it.

You'll ideally have experience with high pressure water jetting. Experience working at heights and in confined spaces would be an advantage, as would an understanding of Health and Safety principles for site working. Some basic ground knowledge of sewer networks would also be useful, although full training will be provided.

This is a full time (35 hours per week) role, with some standby requirements. But you'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). The not-so-small print

This role will be a Grade 4. If you're new to Scottish Water, you'll join us on a starting salary of £27,590. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £32,410.
