ProductionAs a Senior Reliability Test Engineer focusing on mechanical and thermal systems, you will play a key role in designing reliability into Tesla Energy's next-generation, Industrial, Residential and Charging platforms. This position plays a crucial role in the reliability lifecycle of the product from concept to design, development testing/analysis, manufacturing, and field operation to optimize product design for best-in-class lifetime customer experience. You will uncover design and process failures through executing physical tests and developing automated test equipment to gather and analyze performance and reliability test data.

Responsibilities
- Lead test engineering activities for mechanical and thermal systems including: enclosures, busbars/conductors and thermal actuators (pumps, radiators, manifolds, etc.)
- Design and execution of product and component level reliability testing including hands-on testing with real hardware
- Design, build and implement next-gen hardware and software test systems to facilitate reliable design characterization and accelerated life testing
- Determine energy product test strategies that optimize for product reliability, DFMEA-based risk mitigations, test team resources, and program schedules.
- Conduct test data and failure analysis, clearly communicate test results, and collaborate cross-functionally with design and reliability engineers
- Train Technicians/Engineers to operate and troubleshoot test equipment
- Comply with safety policies and regulations
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in hardware design validation, hardware testing & instrumentation and data acquisition systems
- Knowledge of general programming in scripting languages for test automation and data analysis / post-processing (Python preferred)
- Experience specifying sensors for test instrumentation and utilizing data acquisition systems
- Experience working safely with high voltage equipment (up to 1kV)
- Experience using basic hand and power tools
- Experience using CAD software for custom test fixture design
- Experience working safely with high voltage equipment (up to 1kV)
- Proven ability to develop reliability tests including environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing is highly preferred

$80,000 - $174,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
