QC Inspector - Piping (Brownfield)
Location: Onshore, Qatar (office based)
Contract Duration: 1-year contract from start date
We are seeking an experienced QC Inspector - Piping (Brownfield) to oversee quality control and inspection activities for a major Oil & Gas project. This role requires a strong background in piping inspection, welding, and NDT, ensuring compliance with international standards and project specifications.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with experience in quality control within a multi-discipline construction environment.
- Formal training in QC and membership with a recognised professional institution is preferred.
- Mandatory certifications:
- CSWIP 3.2 / AWS Senior Welding Inspector
- BGAS Grade 2 or NACE Level 2
- ASNT NDT Level-II
- Equivalent certifications from internationally recognised organisations may be considered.
Experience Requirements:
- 10 years of experience for degree holders and 15 years for diploma holders in a similar role within the Oil & Gas sector.
- Prior experience in the GCC region is desirable.
- Hands-on expertise in CRA Clad / Lined Pipelines, exotic material welding inspection (DSS, SDSS, Ni, Cr), and flow line piping.
- Strong knowledge of international standards such as API, ASME, ASTM, NACE, DIN.
- Understanding of QC processes and testing requirements for major Oil & Gas / Petrochemical construction projects.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment, coordinating effectively with contractors and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement quality inspection procedures for construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Conduct and coordinate inspections, tests, and punch listings in line with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Project Quality Plan, ITPs, and contractual specifications.
- Maintain inspection records and documentation for all QA/QC activities.
- Verify that all testing and measuring equipment is calibrated and records are maintained.
- Perform site surveillance to identify and rectify non-conformances, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are in place.
- Assist in the review and approval of Contractor QA/QC documents, including QCPs, ITPs, WPS/PQRs, material approvals, and project dossiers.
- Monitor and witness fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing activities for piping, structural steel, tanks, and heaters.
- Oversee welding, NDT, PWHT, hardness testing, alloy verification, and coating activities.
- Conduct receiving inspections of project materials, ensuring traceability of piping bulk materials, welding consumables, and coatings.
- Track and report contractor performance, issuing non-conformance reports (NCRs) and surveillance reports where necessary.
- Support corrective action processes to close out non-conformances efficiently.
