Business Development Manager - Analytical & Detection

Job Summary

The primary purpose of the job is to provide strategic leadership to our product management and business development activities and grow Measurement Solutions (MSOL) Analytical & Detection (A&D) lines within Middle East and Africa. This position is intended to develop and work with a team of analytical subject matter experts, drive technology adoption and acceptance of Emerson's Gas, Liquid analytical and Detection products across Middle East and Africa!

In this role, your responsibilities will be:

Product Management
  • Lead product management, business development, support sales and project pursuit initiatives for MEA to meet or exceed A&D financial objectives
  • Improve MSOL and A&D customer satisfaction by understanding, communicating, and completing solutions to their needs
  • Drive product and factory approval processes within identified Key Accounts
  • Keep up to date with developments and trends in products, industries, and market conditions, develop and maintain sales tools within the scope of work, develop, own, and implement A&D-related marketing activities
  • Prepare and present marketing forecasts, pricing surveys, competitor intelligence, and country marketing plans, partnering with the Regional Managers
  • Improve the product, application, and industry knowledge of the sales organization (customer facing, back office, and execution teams for A&D products and services

Business Development
  • Develop, own, and implement the relevant A&D Strategic Plan Key Initiatives
  • Own and support quality Lead creation processes, provide leadership in Sales Campaigns
  • Support the Regions to liaise with customers, Emerson teams, and LBPs to prioritize effort, gather competitive intelligence, and improve customer service, consistent with A&D sales strategies and Key Account Plans
  • Work closely with other MSOL A&Ds and other Emerson Platforms to increase pull-through content and identify white spaces
  • Develop and promote small-scale analytical systems for standard applications by partnering with third-party system Integrators

Sales
  • Provide forecasts (orders and units) to support financial and manufacturing processes
  • Support Regional sales, Digital Sales individuals, and partners across MEA, as needed
  • Support proposal generation processes to ensure quote quality, service levels, and hit rates are meeting expectations
  • Participate in developing and implementing sales strategies for projects. Maintain an accurate project pursuit list and provide monthly reports and forecasts to management and finance processes
  • Coach customer-facing salespersons on product features, industry, and application knowledge, and Customer/Industry Situational Fluency
  • Support strengthening existing and developing new A&D and MSOL customer relationships, and develop new relationships with customer or third-party personnel (i.e., regulatory, legal agencies, customer technical boards, consultants, etc.) who may influence and make buying decisions
  • Provide technical support in pre-sales processes, clarifications, and re-engineering as needed to align with client/project requirements
  • Ensure adherence to local and international Emerson trade compliance procedures in connection with all transactions and business practices
  • Fulfill any other reasonable duties as required

For this job, you will need:
  • An Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A strong internal drive and passion for growing an analytical business
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the process automation industry, specifically in: Liquid and gas analytical and detection products, Engaging with end users, influencers, OEMs, System Integrators, and EPCs
