The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting geological and geophysical data to build and refine subsurface models, support exploration and development activities, and ensure optimal reservoir management strategies. This role demands advanced expertise in sequence stratigraphy, reservoir characterization, and multi-disciplinary integration using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret well logs, core samples, and seismic data to construct detailed geological models.
- Identify and evaluate hydrocarbon potential through analysis of reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation.
- Conduct basin analysis to assess petroleum systems and hydrocarbon prospectivity.
- Identify and assess exploration prospects using integrated geological and geophysical data.
- Develop risk assessments and volumetric estimates for exploration opportunities.
- Recommend drillable locations by integrating subsurface data with operational considerations.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers to optimize field development strategies.
- Contribute to well placement, trajectory planning, and drilling program design.
- Support production forecasting by updating geological models with new data.
- Estimate reserves and resources in compliance with international standards (e.g., SPE PRMS, SEC).
- Monitor and update reserve estimates based on field performance and new data.
- Identify depositional environments and stratigraphic patterns using sequence stratigraphic principles.
- Differentiate transgressive, regressive, and lowstand deposits to predict reservoir, seal, and source rock distributions.
- Map depositional sequences and unconformities using seismic and sequence stratigraphic analyses.
- Utilize software such as Petrel for geological modeling and data visualization.
- Integrate seismic reflectors, parasequences, and other data to enhance 3D reservoir models.
- Work closely with geophysicists, petrophysicists, and reservoir engineers to achieve project goals.
- Ensure alignment of geological models with reservoir performance and production strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.
- Minimum 6-8 years of experience in exploration, reservoir modeling, and development.
- Strong expertise in sequence stratigraphy and reservoir characterization.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Petrel.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
