Base Pay Range: $185,000 - $200,000

Position assists the operations group in geological interpretation and evaluation of Company fields, oversee geologic horizontal drilling activities, correlations of logs (open hole, gamma and mud logs) to describe stratigraphic and structural characteristics of fields, build contour maps of formations within the field, update maps as geological interpretation changes for drilling, prepare structural & lithology maps to show future drilling locations and evaluate future potential targets.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Independent professional who provides subject-matter expertise for complex geological assignments and related issues.
- Responsible for the geologic drilling activities of all horizontal rigs on CIVI properties. This will require 24/7 site supervision as needed to ensure that the geologic casing point is landed in the correct position and that the target zone is identified throughout the wellbore.
- Position assists the operations group in geological interpretation and evaluation of company fields and makes recommendations if changes are required.
- Identifies drillable prospects through analysis of geological data (well logs, core studies, etc.).
- Maintain a geologic database for lookbacks on all horizontal drilling locations. Include all geologic, engineering, and geophysical criteria to compare against production (daily and EUR's).
- Supervises the acquisition, maintenance (AFE tracking) and mapping of any 3-D seismic acquired.
- Supervises operations/on-site geological staff to ensure they are meeting the standards of CIVI in performance and job responsibilities, ensuring that they are obtaining needed training and support for their career goals.
- Follow safe operating practices and ensure compliance with CIVI Environment, Safety & Regulatory requirements.
- Must be proficient in the use of Petra, and Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Additional proficiencies in Spotfire, Geo-Steering software, or other software programs are beneficial.
- May assist in training junior level Geologist.
- Assure all work performed adheres to CIVI standards.
- Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geological data.
- Effective communication skills, able to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset, capable of working within multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
- Adaptable to changing project requirements and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Geology or a related field required. A specialization in petroleum geology is preferred.
- 8+ years of related experience required.
- Proficiency in geological software, well logging tools, and geosteering technology required.
- Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office 365 products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
Travel & Additional Requirements:
- Work Location: Work is performed at both field and office locations.
- Schedule: Traditional 40-hour workweek or an alternative schedule of 9-hour workdays Monday through Thursday and 4-hour workdays on Friday, as business needs allow and with manager approval.
- Travel required to the Civitas field locations.
