A basic to intermediate understanding of Geomechanics or Petrophysics is a strong plus.

He/she integrates the knowledge from borehole measurements with seismic, petrophysical evaluations and engineering analyses to develop a field-scale picture of the reservoir.

Relationships:

Reports to supervisor: Technical Team Lead or Project Manager

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

A Experienced Geoscientist:
  • Is a fully qualified professional Geoscientist with a minimum of Bachelor degree in geology or geophysics, but preferably Master an above
  • Is a professional that can demonstrate in excess of a minimum of 7 years of activity in geological/geophysical analysis and modeling (see note below)
  • Can demonstrate a variety of technical assignments requiring familiarity with a broad field of Geoscience and knowledge of other domains: Petrophysics, Geophysics, and Geomechanics
  • Can demonstrate an intimate knowledge of the subsurface analysis and modeling workflow

Typical activities involve:
  • quality control of data
  • Seismic Interpretation
  • well log correlation
  • geological model conceptualization
  • computer model construction (Petrel Software proficient)
  • Knowledge of core analysis and regional depositional and structural studies may enhance the analysis

He/she participates in and works on reservoir studies for clients with the objective of creating models that are suitable for prospect evaluation, dynamic fluid flow simulation and/or well placement planning.

He/she works in a team environment with petrophysicists, geophysicists and engineers (reservoir, production and completion). Reservoir Geoscientist is the pivot between these disciplines who integrates the Geophysical and Petrophysical data into a static geological model before providing the data to the Reservoir Engineer.

The Reservoir Geoscientist:
  • Applies broad knowledge and brings experience to identify problems.
  • Balances priorities and interfaces with internal/external customers to ensure expectations are met within the confines of policies, technical and professional limits.
  • Makes independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions. Difficult, complex or unusual matters or decisions are usually referred to a more senior authority.

Experience:
  • BS with minimum 7 years of related experience
  • MS with minimum 5 years of related experience
  • PhD with minimum of 3 years of related experience

Skills and computer literacy:

Problem Solving
  • Intermediate to Advanced skill in project estimation
