Description

The Project Engineering Geologist or Project Geological Engineer is responsible for executing key activities and project-related deliverables within their discipline. Routine responsibilities may include coordination of field exploration programs, construction observation tasks, project management, client-relationship support, technical report writing, complex analyses, and development of conceptual models. Essential duties may vary based on discipline and project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads project management tasks such as developing budgets and scopes, client billings, field report reviews, contract reviews, and proposal development. Partners with Principals and Associates to ensure effective execution of multiple projects.
  • Generates complete and accurate field reports, figures, tables, etc.
  • Reviews deliverables from staff-level employees such as field reports, calculations, analyses, etc. Mentors junior staff relative to technical skills, consulting best practices, etc.
  • Supports business-development activities such as identifying potential new clients, attending conferences or professional association meetings, etc.
  • Leads or coordinates the development and implementation of field exploration programs and construction projects. Ensures that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications and in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Completes engineering analyses and calculations. Develops complex conceptual models (i.e. slope stability modeling, rock fall modeling, etc.)
  • Develops project deliverables such as memoranda and reports.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the appropriate/assigned field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of related professional experience required, including experience with rock slope stabilization, rock fall mitigation, slope stability evaluations and geologic characterization.
  • Professional certification for Engineering Geology and Geological Engineering positions: Professional certification such as PE or LG required.
  • Intermediate-level understanding of slope stability and rockfall software such as RocScience Suite, SlopeW, Slide, MathCAD, or other related software.
  • Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • All candidates are subject to completing a background check, and reference check.
  • All candidates are required to participate in our medical surveillance program.
  • All candidates are subject to complete drug/alcohol testing.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities and do heavy work including exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion.
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged sitting and view of a monitor/screen.
  • Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed.
  • All employees are responsible for conducting their work in a safe manner. This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them to the designated project manager in a timely manner and participating in project safety briefings. This also includes wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field and completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning fieldwork.

Our best estimate for the salary range for the Project Engineering Geologist 2 role in Boise, ID is $79,400 - $112,000 annually.

Our best estimate for the salary range for the Project Geological Engineer 2 role in Seattle, WA is $97,900 - $138,100 annually.

Our best estimate for the salary range for the Project Geological Engineer 2 role in Portland, OR is $95,000 - $134,000 annually.

Our best estimate for the salary range for the Project Geological Engineer role in Boise, ID is $90,100 - $127,100 annually.

Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers' salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
