Planning Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client-facing role, supporting the Project Management team with presenting the programme and related narratives.
  • Lead and manage a team of 4-6 Planning Engineers, ensuring efficient delivery of detailed and robust programmes across all project phases.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director, Commercial Manager, Construction Manager, and Project Controls Manager, as well as JV partner planning teams.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including the client’s Project Manager and Planning Manager, and supply chain partners.
  • Oversee monthly reporting, payment milestones, and the accurate management of value of work done within the P6 programme.
  • Ensure timely production of change programmes and narratives aligned with FIDIC contract procedures.
  • Maintain and update project schedules, ensuring proper change control, progress tracking, and resource allocation.
  • Provide partial support to the Project Controls Manager in managing overall project controls.
  • Establish and maintain transparent internal and external reporting on programme progress, risks, and opportunities.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Planning Engineer or Planning Manager on large-scale energy infrastructure or similar projects.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC EPC contracts and a solid understanding of NEC contract delivery.
  • Expertise in using Primavera P6.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing a team and mentoring junior planners.
  • Excellent commercial and contractual awareness, particularly in cost loading, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Experience working on long-term projects, from early phases to completion, with an understanding of large programmes and resource loading.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience on major energy infrastructure projects or similar facilities.
  • Proficiency in QSRA (Primavera Risk / Deltek Acumen Risk) and 4D planning software (Synchro).

Project Specifics:
The Eastern Green Link 2 project is a key national initiative, aimed at strengthening the UK's energy infrastructure by delivering a critical electricity link. The project is currently in its construction phase and will continue until 2029. The Planning Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the timely delivery of the project, managing programme changes, and leading a team that works across multiple phases.
