Key Responsibilities:
Task 1.1: PWB (Printed Wiring Board) Design and Analysis
- Create Mesh and Thermal Simulation Models of avionics mechanical chassis and PWB/CCA using Siemens NX analysis tools.
- Review power dissipation data provided by the Electrical Engineer assigned to the PWB/CCA.
- Provide input on part placement for optimal layout design.
- Review and optimize stack-up layout based on power dissipation, ensuring thermal performance through copper thickness optimization.
Task 1.2: Box Design and Analysis
- Verify that box designs establish a good thermal path from parts to the board, chassis, and mounting interface.
- Ensure the box design meets the maximum allowed heat flux to the spacecraft.
- Review and interpret system thermal requirements, including maximum flight temperature, acceptance, and qualification standards.
- Perform box-level thermal analysis to flow down rail temperatures to each CCA.
Task 1.3: CCA (Circuit Card Assembly) Design and Analysis
- Provide guidance for part installation, including bonding and spacers.
- Conduct CCA-level thermal analysis to ensure all EEE (Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) parts meet program derating limits.
Task 1.4: Design Review Support
- Generate Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) engineering artifacts, including charts, documentation, and presentations.
- Provide weekly progress documentation of design efforts.
- Generate additional engineering documentation, including Engineering Memos.
- Resolve all thermal analysis-related action items from design reviews (PDR/CDR).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in PWB/CCA thermal analysis, box design, and avionics systems engineering.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX analysis tools for thermal modeling and simulation.
- Strong knowledge of power dissipation, heat flux management, and thermal path optimization.
- Ability to interpret system thermal requirements and perform box- and CCA-level thermal analysis.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills for presenting findings in design reviews (PDR/CDR).
- Must be able to work on-site in Lucent Building, CO, four days per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting NASA, NOAA, or space-based hardware programs.
- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin's design standards and thermal engineering practices.
- Knowledge of EEE part derating, bonding, and spacer installation.
