Airswift has been entrusted by one of our esteemed power clients to find a Commissioning Site Technician, Electrical for an exciting opportunity in Portsmouth, Virginia. This is an excellent chance to work on large-scale projects within the offshore wind industry, with the potential for contract extension.
High Level Project Overview
The following defines responsibilities of the Electrical Commissioning Technician for electrical authority scope of the offshore assets including Offshore Substation (OSS), OEC/IAC Cables, Wind Turbine Generators (WTG), Transition Pieces (TP). Role reports functionally to the Commissioning Site Manager.
The candidate will be required to be stationed at the pre-assembly site located at Portsmouth Marine Terminal (PMT) in Virginia starting at the end of Q1-2025 until the closure of the installation campaign projected by Q1 2027.

Responsibilities
- Present at work location to supervise, coordinate, and perform commissioning activities
- Ensure coordination and compliance by commissioning working parties to HSE programs, Project requirements, and contract agreements.
- Focus is electrical, equipment, instrumentation, and controls systems and activities including electrical PTW, LOTO and SIMOPS
- Authorize, plan, and execute electrical work as HV Electrical Authority
- Support coordination, authorization of work activities in an energized perimeter
- Participate in daily coordination meetings with Contractors related to commissioning work
- Provide technical test status and schedule inputs to managers, schedulers as needed
- Support process and review of deliverable documentation, e.g. reports, plans, As-Builts, etc.
- Execute and coordinate Owner LOTO isolations, documentation, and plans
- Execute and coordinate Owner energization activities of high and low voltage equipment
- Review, and authorize plans, procedures, and certificate documentation
- Owner representation to witness, inspect, audit, walkdown, and accept work
- Monitor network systems for healthy state; prioritize alarms for troubleshooting daily
- Perform SLD walks, breaker line ups, isolations, and system validations prior to in-service energizations
Requirements
- 5+ years of Electrical Technician/Commissioning Site Technician, specific preference would be to have that experience be directly related to Wind Turbine Generator projects.
- Must have prior experience on major capital projects (100M+) in the offshore wind industry directly handling electrical projects and scope.
- Experience in the Offshore Wind Industry working directly in an Electrical Technician role/scope.
- Experience coordinating, performing commissioning scope of HV & LV systems.
- Demonstrated expertise, qualifications, aptitude with electrical programs, procedures, and tools.
- ??????? Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
