JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Special Projects Lead Person is responsible for leading a team of welders/fabricators ensuring efficient production of fabricated parts by managing workflow, quality control, and safety procedures. This position will also perform hands-on fabrication tasks using various tools and machinery, requiring a high level of technical expertise in the specific fabrication methods used within the company. Key responsibilities include assigning tasks, training team members, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining production schedules to meet deadlines.

Job Duties:

• Assign tasks and delegate work to fabrication team members based on their skills and project requirements.
• Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new welders/fabricators.
• Monitor team performance and address any quality or productivity issues.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
• Review fabrication drawings and specifications to ensure accurate understanding of project requirements.
• Plan and schedule fabrication tasks to meet production deadlines.
• Monitor material inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary supplies.
• Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency.
• Conduct thorough quality inspections of fabricated parts to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Identify and address any quality issues, including rework or scrap reduction
• Implement quality control procedures and documentation practices
• Maintain effective communication with employees and all levels of management

Technical skills:

• Proficient operation of various fabrication machinery such as CNC Plasma Cutter, press brakes, shears, welders, and hand tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
• Knowledge of different materials and their fabrication properties.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment, cranes, mobile cranes, rigging, forklifts, front end loader, road maintainer, and compactor roller.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 5+ years of experience in fabrication work
• 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
