Technicians / ServiceWe are seeking an experienced Projects Rotating Equipment Specialist for our global energy client based in the Fort Saskatchewan, AB area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to major capital projects while supporting site maintenance programs, commissioning activities, and reliability improvement initiatives. The role will be part of the Asset Integrity Management Team, with a specific focus on rotating equipment within the projects portfolio.
Job Purpose
The Projects Rotating Equipment Specialist will be responsible for managing rotating equipment deliverables during the execution of capital projects, ensuring alignment with site maintenance requirements and reliability strategies. This includes updating CMMS (GSAP, SAP Blueprint), developing preventative maintenance strategies, and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and technical guidelines. The role also supports commissioning, startup, and the implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance outputs.

The Projects Rotating Equipment Specialist will be responsible for managing rotating equipment deliverables during the execution of capital projects, ensuring alignment with site maintenance requirements and reliability strategies. This includes updating CMMS (GSAP, SAP Blueprint), developing preventative maintenance strategies, and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and technical guidelines. The role also supports commissioning, startup, and the implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance outputs.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Provide input into Minimum Technical Solutions and scope optimization in project SELECT and DEFINE phases.
- Contribute to Inspection Test Plan (ITP) development, identifying hold points, and performing assurance activities.
- Develop and maintain PPP&Gs (Policies, Procedures, Practices & Guidelines) for new equipment.
- Create BOM in SAP and define parts stocking strategies.
- Manage post-commissioning spare parts and relocation to warehouse.
- Review and validate RCM outputs to support preventative maintenance programs.
- Conduct vendor shop witnessing to SPEP and DEP requirements where applicable.
- Lead craft competency training, spare parts strategies, bad actors program, and PM program development.
- Provide commissioning and startup support across multiple projects.
- Support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Foster a culture of openness, trust, communication, teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Driving results across safety, environment, quality, schedule, and cost performance areas.
- Balancing and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Managing evolving priorities while meeting multiple deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Red Seal Millwright or Mechanical Technologist certification.
- 10 years’ experience as a Technologist or Journeyman within rotating equipment discipline.
- Expertise in relevant codes, standards, and practices (API 686 experience required).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with proven stakeholder engagement experience.
- Hands-on experience with procedure writing and reviewing commissioning documentation.
- Advanced knowledge of GSAP and SAP Blueprint.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching capabilities.
- Valid and current driver’s licence.
- Must have a current open work visa or other legal status to work in Canada.
- Must be able to work on-site in the Fort Saskatchewan area (no LOA or relocation provided).
