The Maintenance Manager will report to the Operations and Maintenance Director and is responsible for providing general maintenance leadership & oversight for the Air Products Qudra regional maintenance-related activities including Maintenance Related: Safety accountability, Strategies (Reliability Centered Maintenance, Risk Based Inspections, Condition Monitoring, Condition Based Maintenance, etc.), Budget/Planning activities, Mechanical Integrity, Contractor Selection & Service Agreements, Training & Development, Implementation of Global & Local Standards / Work Processes / Procedures / Best Practices, Technical Directives, Turnarounds, Spare Parts strategies, CMMS (SAP) Utilization & Optimization.

The position will coordinate, organize, optimize, and support the execution of regional predictive, preventative, corrective and Turnaround maintenance activities with the goal of reducing maintenance related costs while improving plant safety, reliability, and availability consistent with the business needs for Air Products Qudra Operating facilities. The position is responsible for developing and implementing cost effective common programs and systems across the region to ensure consistent application of global maintenance strategies, engineering standards, maintenance best practices, maintenance training, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), reporting, and work processes.

The position will work closely with the engineering organization, site operations & maintenance teams, and external resources to ensure work activities are executed in a safe and reliable manner.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

SAFETY
  • Provide & maintain a safe work environment for self & others. Employ good housekeeping methods and demonstrate leadership with all company & industry safe work processes to prevent injuries. Ensure proper documentation is maintained for safety related activities.
  • Ensure the safety of all maintenance personnel by utilizing the Air Products Basic Safety Practice program, which includes Safety Work Permits, LOTO, Confined Space, etc. The position provides technical support for executing, organizing, and auditing the safety systems, to build the Air Products safety culture into the Air Products Qudra organization.

MAINTENANCE / TECHNICAL
  • Management and oversight of all maintenance activities within the region. Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Maintenance technical and administrative needs & services to support all plants under incumbent responsibilities.
  • Implement & promote Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies and drive Predictive and Condition Based Maintenance programs consistently across the region to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall Business profitability and product quality.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the preventative / predictive maintenance program to ensure program is effective, optimal for each plant, and maintenance activities are properly completed and remain in compliance.
  • Coordinate with Plant & Line Management to develop, administer, and control of the region’s Maintenance related annual budgets, including routine and major maintenance expenses. Continuously monitor costs and approve all significant expenses.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities with purchased materials, spare parts, and contracted services by leveraging volumes and inventory across the region.
  • Liaise with Reliability and Maintenance System team and support the plants’ Reliability program across the region to achieve operational excellence and continuously improve plant equipment availability, integrity, reliability and costs.
  • Promote the regional Maintenance Excellence Program to identify and monitor the key attributes which define a World Class Maintenance Organization. Indoctrinate all regional maintenance personnel with the Maintenance Excellence Program and implement appropriate metrics to monitor compliance and promote Continuous Improvement of the program.
  • Continuously monitor & evaluate plant equipment spare parts and coordinate the spares availability through reviews with the Engineering, Supply Chain and Warehouse personnel to support plant availability.
  • Continuously monitor & evaluate plant metrics and performance data. Interact routinely with operations and engineering teams to provide data-driven technical evaluation & determinations.
  • Provide technical guidance and necessary support for all maintenance related troubleshooting, test, and repair activities. Participate in short- and long-range planning and execution of essential programs, turnarounds, processes, and the development and implementation of strategic planning for the regional.
  • Provide leadership & oversight for plant turnaround (TAR) activities. Manage TAR safety to ensure zero incidents. Provide technical input to ensure work scope is consistent with a Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) approach. Work with site team, line management, and engineering organization to develop clear project scope, budget, schedule, execution strategy, and risk management plan for TARs. Lead contractor bid review meetings to ensure scope of work is clearly defined and understood and accurate bids are provided by contractors and appropriately monitored. Employ good Project Management discipline to manage scope, budget, and schedule for TARs.
  • Identify & establish regional contract service agreements. Evaluate potential contractors for safety performance, technical capabilities, qualifications, certifications, and skills / competencies of staff.
  • Ensure proper Root Cause Analysis methods are completed and corrective actions identified and implemented for all equipment / machinery failures. Ensure appropriate repair solutions are implemented to eliminate reoccurrences and address the root cause of the failure.
  • Implement best practices, change management, and standardization of maintenance systems and work processes across the region. Periodically evaluate programs’ effectiveness and continuously improve to ensure optimum reliability and cost benefits are achieved.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in all processes and activities including safety performance, maintenance costs, reliability, and cost of quality objectives.
  • Provide leadership & oversight to for the development and upkeep of maintenance standards, procedures, best practices, inspection reports, and contractor selection guidelines. Manage compliance with all procedures, standards, specifications, regulatory codes, and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate documentation is maintained for plants’ maintenance & reliability activities and overall plant performance parameters. Monitor quality assurance initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance is maintained.
  • Effective management & utilization of maintenance personnel and specialized skills across the region to maximize the efficiency, productivity and capabilities of the maintenance work force within the region.
  • Develop the professional & technical knowledge & skills of the maintenance organization. Actively manage development plans, cross training, and succession plans for the regional maintenance team.
  • Evaluate personnel performance levels, as necessary, to provide growth opportunity feedback and competitive compensation levels.
  • Direct and promote an atmosphere of team spirit through good example, open communication, good listening, and timely problem resolutions.
  • Emergency response is required 7 days a week/ 24 hours a day. The Maintenance Manager must have the ability to make technically sound decisions to resolve issues through consultation with management, operations, and engineering outside normal working hours

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Engineering graduate (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred) with >15 years of related maintenance experience in chemical / refinery / gas plant maintenance / inspection / engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years management/leadership experience with teams >20 people.
  • Detailed practical knowledge & experience developing and implementing recognized maintenance strategies/techniques including: Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk Based Inspections (RBI), Condition Based Monitoring, Condition Based Maintenance (CBM).
  • Demonstrated history of success in Safety, Reliability, Quality, and Employee Involvement and the ability to promote / develop a comprehensive Maintenance Excellence Program.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, planning, interpersonal skills, and teamwork skills are essential.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Comprehensive multi-disciplined technical knowledge with good business insight. Technical & Professional credibility and respect across the organization is imperative.
  • Experience in major turnaround support, project management, plant operations, and maintenance activities.
  • Project management knowledge and experience with projects >$3Million USD.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) knowledge/experience (certification preferred).
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) is preferred.
  • Certification of Vibration Analysis Level II/III desirable.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and machinery standards applicable to Oil and Gas and Refining Industries and preferably also Saudi Aramco standards and working practices
  • Proven coordination experience in a multi team environment which includes engineering, maintenance, operations, and contractors. Promotes a ‘one team’ environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all regional organizations. Must have outstanding technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of computer-based applications (Microsoft Office) and a working knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Planning and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). SAP knowledge is preferred.
  • Ability to read schematics, single line drawings, P&IDs, and other technical documentation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local environmental regulations and health and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of local supplier capabilities, vendor service contracts, and detailed knowledge of shop support capabilities within the region is desirable
