Job Purpose

  • Repair, maintenance and inspection of underwater parts of oil platforms, underwater pipelines, vessels and other offshore/inshore facilities involved in oil and gas production and transportation. Other work for which the dive(s) are required, not going beyond the scope of the applicable diving regulations.


Job Responsibilities

  • Survey of rifts. Inspection of ship lifting structures.
  • Full inspection and repair work of the underwater part of hydro technical structures.
  • Laying of pipe canals, underwater pipelines and cables. Checking the correct installation of underwater pipelines and cables.
  • Measuring the bending of pipelines laid in trenches.
  • Installation of weights on the underwater pipelines, installation and dismantling of couplings, half-couplings and protective gratings.
  • Installation of heads and bodies weighing over 20 to 50 tons, grillages and other assemblies of hydro technical structures.
  • Installation and dismantling under water of all types of formwork, installation of fittings on holes.
  • Installation of drawbars and outhauls.
  • Inspection and repair of the running gears of sluice gates and lock gates on shipping locks.
  • Flushing of deep trenches and tunnels under the hull of a sunken ship, installation of conductors in tunnels.
  • Maintenance of research works carried out from inhabited underwater vehicles and underwater laboratories.
  • Unloading from the hull of a sunken ship cargo which requires balancing.
  • Work in the flooded compartment of the ship.
  • Measurement of holes in ship hulls and damage to hydro technical structures.
  • Repair and cleaning of underwater devices of vessels from foreign objects and other work similar in nature and complexity.


Education

Must Know:
  • Organization of operations of the diving station at depths up to 45 m; methods and techniques of training subordinate diving personnel in new techniques for performing rescue operations;
  • Instructions for the use of working diving tables and the use of decompression chambers, maintaining all types of diving documentation and reporting documentation;
  • Methods for detecting malfunctions and methods for conducting preventive (maintenance) repair of diving gear and diving support equipment, except for mechanisms, assemblies, and other devices serviced by mechanics, electricians, and other specialists;
  • Rules and terms for the disinfection of diving equipment; Methods of providing first aid for diving diseases before the arrival of a medical professional;
  • Rules for the technical maintenance of diving gear and diving support equipment;
  • Safety regulations for diving operations; Diving operations performing techniques applicable to qualification; Work site arrangement procedures;

Eligibility Criteria:
  • A person who has complete general secondary education and special diving training in a diving school (in courses) is appointed to the position. Work experience as a diver for at least 3 years.
